ARLINGTON — One person was killed and three were taken to the hospital Wednesday morning when a sedan and gravel truck collided head-on east of Arlington.
Around 11 a.m., the road was slick with fluid that likely leaked from another car in the 19300 block of Jordan Road, Fire District 21 Chief Chad Schmidt said.
The driver of the sedan crashed head-on into a gravel truck, Schmidt said. The front-seat passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, another passenger was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and the gravel truck driver was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
Detectives were investigating the collision, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities suspected the fluid was fuel, likely diesel, but the exact source was unclear.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said it was too early to speculate on the cause of the crash, and that detectives needed to do a full investigation first.
