EVERETT — Eight residents were displaced in an Everett fire Thursday night, authorities reported.

Around 8:40 p.m., Everett fire crews were on scene of the residential fire in the 2000 block of 23rd Street in the Bayside neighborhood, according to the fire department. The fire was reportedly contained to the exterior of the building.

The Red Cross was enlisted to help the eight displaced residents. Two firefighters were evaluated on scene due to smoke exposure, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday.
