LAKE STEVENS — A Lake Stevens woman drowned at a public beach Saturday, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Anna M. Lopez, 20, was swimming in the lake near the 11800 block of North Lakeshore Drive when witnesses noticed she was unresponsive, according to officials.
North Lakeshore Swimming Beach is less than a quarter-mile away.
On Saturday evening she had reportedly been in a vehicle with three other people parked nearby. She got out and jumped from a dock into the water, Lake Stevens police spokesperson Cmdr. Jeff Beazizo said.
A witness in a different vehicle who did not know the woman realized she was not responsive and called 911 around 8:15 p.m. That person helped get the woman to shore and performed CPR until the Lake Stevens Fire Department arrived, Beazizo said.
First responders took over CPR for about 50 minutes. She died at the scene. All four witnesses spoke with law enforcement.
