Here is how some of your tax money was spent in recent city council action.

Everett: $25,000 to the Valley View and Riverside neighborhood associations for improvement projects.

$109,000 in use-it-or-lose-it federal Homeland Security funds for brochures and portable shelters for people and pets. Up to $47,000 of the grant money could be used to pay salaries and benefits.

Up to $397,000 to Cosmopolitan Engineering Group of Tacoma to design a new water discharge and intake system at Lake Chaplain.

Lake Stevens: $5,950 to Snohomish County to provide maintenance on four traffic signals in Lake Stevens.

Monroe: $20,599 to Snohomish County Corrections of Everett for jail billing.

$68 to Verizon Wireless for an Internet card.

Snohomish: $49 to a city employee for mileage from June through August.

$46,656 to the city of Everett for water bills.
