TACOMA — The Pierce County prosecutor has charged three people accused of taking part in a home-invasion burglary at Puyallup where the homeowner killed one intruder.

Burglary, attempted robbery and assault charges were filed Friday against Malinda Knight, 19, Kyle Anderson, 29, and Josh Baker, 27.

A fourth suspect, Kevin Fernandes, 21, died at a hospital after Wednesday’s shooting. Knight and Anderson are in custody. Baker is at large.

Charges will not be filed against the homeowner. The prosecutor says he acted in self-defense. He’s a retired police officer who told deputies he was awakened by the break-in and shot a man who came at him with a crowbar.
