Mill Creek seniors host fair at McCollum Park

The Mill Creek Senior Center offers a free social and resource fair from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Snoho­mish County Washington State University extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Find information about senior trips, classes and other resources along with updates on a proposed Mill Creek senior center. Refreshments are planned.

Letters for Mill Creek advisory board are due

The city of Mill Creek seeks two volunteers to serve on a senior center advisory group. Letters of interest are due at City Hall by 5 p.m. Friday. Scouts help families learn vehicle safety

Safe Kids, the Marysville Fire District, the Cub Scout Mount Baker Council and Roy Robinson Chevrolet play host to a vehicle safety event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 6616 35th Ave. NE, Marysville.

More than 50 Cub Scouts plan to be on hand to help launch a new vehicle safety patch program aimed at teaching kids ages 6 to 10 and their families proper safety belt and booster seat use, how to prevent trunk entrapment, the danger of leaving a child alone in a vehicle and how to contact OnStar in an emergency. Marysville fire personnel will offer fire truck tours.

Sultan author to read, sign books Tuesday

The Sultan Library has invited Sultan author Jim MacDicken to speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sultan Community Center, 319 Main St. MacDicken is a retired Sultan High School teacher and former Sultan football coach. Lake Stevens offers tips for fire safety

The Lake Stevens Fire department kicks off Fire Prevention Week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Haggen, 8915 Market Place NE, Suite 100, Lake Stevens.

Fire Department volunteers will provide home safety tips, smoke detectors and tours of emergency vehicles and Sparky’s Hazard House.
