Starting this fall, Central Washington University will offer a full bachelor’s degree through the University Center at Everett Community College.
CWU already offered a few classes that would count toward its Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Management at EvCC during the Spring 2007 quarter, but in September will begin the complete four-year program with as many as 15 students.
The degree, the first of its kind in the state, is designed to help people with two-year degrees in information technology advance in their careers.
The courses are taught through video-based lectures with only a few in-person meetings each quarter, so that working adults and parents can avoid a commute. Classes also are held on nights and weekends.
Western Washington University also offers two bachelor’s degrees at EvCC through the University Center, one in elementary education and one in human services.
CWU already has local branch campuses in Lynnwood and Des Moines and wanted to tap into the growing workforce of Snohomish County, where the U. S. Census Bureau reported that roughly 44,000 people held associate’s degrees in 2005.
