SNOHOMISH — The man who died after crashing into a traffic light pole Sunday morning in Snohomish has been identified.
Before the crash, Washington State Patrol tried to pull over Gage Griswold, 31, as he drove on U.S. 2, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. The car exited off 88th Street, fleeing from troopers. They did not pursue the vehicle.
Around 12:45 a.m., Griswold was traveling west on Maple Street in Snohomish at high speed, the sheriff’s office said. Meanwhile, a pickup truck was turning left at the intersection of Maple Street and 2nd Street.
As he got closer, the driver tried to pass the truck, hitting its front bumper and crashing into a traffic light pole, the sheriff’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, the Snohomish County Medical’s Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Griswold. He died of blunt force injuries. The truck driver, 63, was uninjured.
