EVERETT — Former Everett Mayor Ray Stephanson has been appointed as interim executive director and CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County.
Wendy Poischbeg, who previously served as the organization’s interim CEO and president, is leaving the organization to join the new Greater Everett Chamber of Commerce. Stephanson will take over the role on Dec. 2, the alliance announced this week.
“It’s an honor to join Economic Alliance Snohomish County and lead such a talented team,” Stephanson said in a press release. “I look forward to advancing the advocacy, access, and innovation needed to support businesses and drive economic growth in our region.”
Stephanson spent six years on Everett’s City Council before serving as mayor for 14 years, from 2003 to 2017. Stephanson moved to Hat Island, where he has served on the fire commission.
Economic Alliance Snohomish County seeks to foster development in the community. It also brings together businesses and political leaders with events throughout the year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ray to lead EASC,” Doug Purcell, the organization’s board chair, said in a release. “Ray’s unparalleled expertise, long-standing relationships, and dedication to this community will strengthen EASC’s role as the leading advocate and resource for Snohomish County businesses and stakeholders.”
Garry Clark, who became CEO in 2021, left the position in 2023. Poischbeg has been the interim CEO since.
