EDMONDS — A motel fire off Highway 99 in Edmonds displaced five people Monday afternoon.
Around 4:15 p.m., firefighters received reports of a fire at the St. Francis Hotel at 23905 Highway 99, according to South County Fire. Crews arrived at the scene six minutes later.
It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames. Firefighters initially had trouble accessing the unit because it was cluttered, South County Fire spokesperson Christie Veley said.
Firefighters kept the fire contained to one unit, according to the department. No one was injured.
Five people were displaced. Authorities were investigating the cause Tuesday.
