MUKILTEO — Firefighters rescued a person Thursday morning after a passerby noticed them at the bottom of an embankment south of Mukilteo.

Just before 7 a.m., the bystander called 911 after noticing someone who had apparently fallen in a 25-foot-deep ravine near 92nd Street SW and Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo Fire Chief Glen Albright said.

With assistance from South County Fire, firefighters performed a technical rescue, Albright said. They placed the injured person into a stokes basket and used a rope to bring them back to the surface.

The person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
