Lighthouse opens for season
The Mukilteo Lighthouse kicks off its 2018 season with an opening day ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Boy Scout Troop 18 will lead a flag-raising ceremony. There will be a short commemoration, followed by a ribbon-cutting.
The Lighthouse then will be open to the public noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through September, plus 4 to 7 p.m. first and third Wednesdays during the summer farmers market season.
Mukilteo Light Station is at 608 Front St. Parking fees apply at Lighthouse Park.

Fisheries talk at library
University of Washington research scientist Nicole Baker talks about what works in creating sustainable fisheries, and reveal how to identify sustainably caught fish in the grocery store, at event set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.

April Pools Day coming up
Mountlake Terrace celebrates April Pools Day, a free water safety program, at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Recreation Pavilion, 5303 228th St. SW. Learn about safe boating, life jackets, swimming and more. Three will be a raffle and free swim passes for families who complete all the safety stations.

Upcoming pancake breakfasts
Edmonds: 8:30-9:30 a.m. April 6 (first Friday) at the Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave. Pancakes, strawberry compote, eggs, ham, biscuits and sausage gravy, beverages. Cost is $5.
Bothell: 8-11 a.m. April 7 and 21 (first and third Saturdays) at the Northshore Senior Center, 10201 E Riverside Drive. Pancakes, eggs, ham (first Saturday) or sausage (third Saturday), coffee or tea, and orange juice. Cost is $5.
Snohomish: 8:30-10:30 a.m. April 7 (first Saturday) at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St. Pancakes, French toast, sausage, ham, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and more. Cost is $5, $3 for kids.
Lake Stevens: A Norwegian Pancake Breakfast is served 7:30-10:30 a.m. April 21 (third Saturday, September to May) at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE. Cost is $6; children younger than 4 are free.
Monroe: 8-10 a.m. April 21 (third Saturday) at the Monroe Community Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Pancakes, French toast, eggs, ham or sausage, beverages. Cost is $5, $3 younger than 12.
Anti-trafficking seminar
A free anti-trafficking seminar, sponsored by the Skagit County Coalition Against Trafficking, is set for April 11 at the Swinomish Casino and Lodge, 12885 Casino Drive, Anacortes. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The event ends at noon. There will be breakout groups for law enforcement, social services, education, medical and the general public.
