ARLINGTON — A 10-mile stretch of Highway 9 between Lake McMurray and north Arlington is set for temporary closure, with long detours next week.
A culvert under the highway near the North Centennial Trailhead has rusted and eroded land near the road. Temporary repairs in April 2018 kept it from further degradation, but a full replacement by crews contracted by the Washington State Department of Transportation should reinforce the roadway and improve fish passage.
Work on the $2.8 million project is scheduled to begin Monday and last through the early morning of Saturday, Sept. 18. Paving is subject to weather.
Delays up to 45 minutes are possible. Drivers are encouraged to use other routes. A detour will direct them to I-5 via Highways 530 and 534.
