LONGVIEW — The Longview City Council voted down a proposal to spend $350,000 to make the city’s tap water look, smell and taste better.

The Daily News reports council members didn’t want to spend that much money with the possibility that some taste problems might continue.

The $350,000 would have added dissolved oxygen to the water. That would help keep minerals from flaking off the inside of pipes and lower levels of iron and manganese blamed for turning the water brown.
