Man dies after jumping off I-5 overpass near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — A man died Wednesday night after jumping off of the 164th Street SW overpass and landing on the freeway below, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A Ford pickup driving north on I-5 struck the man, 48. The pickup driver, a 54-year-old Arlington man, was not injured, police said.

The man who jumped had been booked into the Snohomish County Jail earlier that morning. A judge agreed to release him without bail. He was out of custody by 7:15 p.m. The man jumped two hours later.

The northbound lanes of I-5 were closed Wednesday night, but have re-opened.
