Beginning today, Marysville TV21 will air a debate over Initiative 912’s attempt to repeal the 9.5-cent gas tax increase approved this year by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Christine Gregoire.
The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce hosted the forum Friday with an overview by William Vlcek, the state Department of Transportation’s assistant regional administrator for Snohomish and King counties.
Steve Neighbors, an Everett business leader and chief executive officer of TERRA Resource Group, spoke in favor of the initiative.
Reid Shockey, president of Everett-based land-use consulting firm Shockey-Brent and president of Snohomish County Citizens for Improved Transportation, spoke against it.
The pre-recorded political forum will air at noon, 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. today through Oct. 3.
The state’s Public Affairs Network videotaped the forum, which also will air on TVW at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
