ALGER — A wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning left a Monroe motorcycle rider dead and a driver injured on I-5 in Skagit County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Around 4 a.m., Geremy Larson was riding a Yamaha YZF-R6 south in the northbound lanes, near the exit to Alger, according to state troopers. The motorcycle crashed into a Hyundai Elantra headed north.

The motorcyclist was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died. Larson was 38.

The other driver, 25, of Mount Vernon, was injured and taken to Skagit Valley Hospital, according to the state patrol.

The freeway was blocked for roughly three hours.

It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, troopers said.
