EVERETT — A Monroe man was hospitalized after colliding with another driver Wednesday morning on I-5 near Highway 526.
The man, 38, was southbound on the freeway in a Ford Festiva at 6:41 a.m. when he tried to change lanes to the right but veered back and crashed into a Ford Expedition SUV, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with serious injuries.
The 20-year-old Marysville man driving the SUV reportedly had minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital. A passenger was not injured.
The Washington State Patrol was investigating what caused the collision, but did not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors.
