EVERETT — A motorcyclist died early Monday morning after colliding with a car on the Snohomish River Bridge and being propelled into the water, according to police.
The motorcycle and the car collided before 1:30 a.m. Monday while northbound on Highway 529 at the bridge, according to a news release from Everett police. The motorcyclist was ejected over the bridge’s guardrail and into the river.
Police and Everett firefighters found the motorcyclist, a man believed to be in his mid-20s, in the river, police said. He was taken aboard a marine patrol vessel. Firefighters performed CPR and he was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. He died there.
No one in the other vehicle, a Nissan Xterra, reported injuries, according to police.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man and determine the cause and manner of death.
Northbound Highway 529 was closed while detectives investigated, but it was reopened at about 5:00 a.m. Monday.
