Neighbors identified in Everett shooting that left both dead

Police found Peter Fickey, 40, and Bryan Jenks, 54, had suffered fatal gunshot wounds last week.

EVERETT — Two neighbors killed in an Everett shooting both died by homicide, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Both men were publicly identified Monday, though details about what exactly happened remained scarce.

Around 4:30 p.m. Aug. 22, a neighbor reported gunfire in the 2300 block of Virginia Avenue east of Broadway in the Riverside neighborhood, Everett officer Ora Hamel said Wednesday.

Two men were fighting inside a home when “a gun was fired, resulting in the death of both men,” police wrote.

Police arrived to find one of the men with gunshot wounds in an alley between Baker and Virginia avenues. Officers rendered aid to the man, but he succumbed to his injuries, Hamel said.

On Monday, the man was identified as Peter Fickey, of Everett. He was 40.

Officers also went into the home “to conduct a welfare check on anyone inside” and found the other man dead with gunshot wounds. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Bryan Jenks, of Everett. He was 54.

The medical examiner’s office determined the manner of both deaths was homicide.

Fickey and Jenks were “friends and neighbors” who lived across the alley from each other, Hamel said. It was unclear what led up to the initial argument.

Everett police did not immediately respond to a request for further information Monday.

Early in the investigation, police said they did not believe the shooter was at large.
