After months of waiting, the next phase of a prominent downtown apartment development is underway.
Skotdal Real Estate just announced its working on the second phase of Library Place, located at the corner of Hoyt Avenue and California Street next to the Everett Public Library. In a release, the company says construction is in response to “an improving economic outlook for the Everett area and a strengthened apartment market.”
The development is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2012.
Skotdal Real Estate started plans for Library Place years ago, before the economy undermined the housing market and put residential construction on hold. The first phase opened last year. In the past, city officials have said this project is a bold new step for Everett, an attractive residential development that could help local employers recruit new talent by making downtown a more appealing place to live.
