Give: Honor Society helps food bank

Students in Glacier Peak High School’s National Honor Society will wrap gifts for free at the Mill Creek Town Center on Friday through Sunday.

They will also collect cash donations for the Maltby Food Bank.

The free gift wrapping is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 15407 Main Street 101 in the Mill Creek Town Center.

Volunteer: Riding center training

HOPE Therapeutic Riding Center in Langley plans to host a volunteer training session on Dec. 29.

Volunteers are needed to help riders discover their abilities around horses. They do not need prior experience with horses.

The training will be 1 to 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Langley. The Winter Session will be on Tuesdays in Coupeville, starting the first week of January.

Volunteers who cannot work during the Winter Session can still attend the training to be ready for following sessions.

Enter: Design contest for patch

Kids in the first through fifth grade who live in the North County Fire and EMS service area can design a sticker for the new junior firefighter patch.

Children are encouraged to have their designs reflect what comes to mind when they think of their fire and emergency medical service providers at North County Fire and EMS.

The designs can be drawn, colored, painted or collaged.

Applications and contest rules are available at www.northcountyfireems.com.

Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday and mailed to North County Fire and EMS, c/o Battalion Chief Christian Davis, 19727 Marine Drive, Stanwood, WA 98292.

Prizes will be awarded to one child in each grade level on Jan. 15. Winners will be announced on the North County Fire and EMS Web site and notified by mail.

Help: Volunteers with hospice care

A free information session to review the volunteer opportunities at Providence Hospice and Home Care is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 20 in downtown Everett.

Interested volunteers need to register to receive driving and parking information by Jan. 15.

Learn: Goodwill offers free classes

Registration is open for the next eight-week session at Everett South Goodwill’s Job Training and Education Center.

The free classes in computer basics, word processing, spreadsheet fundamentals and English for adults who are learning or want to learn English, run from Jan. 4 through Feb. 25.

Class registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The center is located on 228 SW Everett Mall Way in Everett.
