A 25-year-old Puyallup resident made his first appearance in Lewis County Superior Court Wednesday on charges of first-degree incest, first-degree child rape, second-degree child rape and third-degree child rape for crimes that allegedly occurred in Lewis County, specifically the Chehalis and Napavine areas.
The Chronicle has chosen to not name the suspect in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
The suspect appeared out of custody in court Wednesday to address a $100,000 bench warrant for his arrest on the charges.
Given the fact that he appeared out of custody and has no previous felony history, Superior Court Judge James Lawler allowed him to continue to remain out of custody on $20,000 unsecured bail.
The suspect also entered not-guilty pleas to all four charges against him.
On Oct. 16, deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office contacted a woman who reported that her 17-year-old granddaughter was sexually assaulted by her half-brother, the suspect.
The woman reported her granddaughter told her about the sexual contact between her and the suspect. The alleged rapes took place at several residences in the Chehalis and Napavine area, according to court documents.
Investigators interviewed the girl, who reported that the sexual abuse began approximately 10 years ago.
