SEATTLE — Seattle Children’s hospital says it has received recent pledges totaling $65 million.

A hospital spokeswoman says an anonymous $50 million pledge from an estate is the largest single gift to the hospital in its 104-year history. It will benefit work at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute. Spokeswoman Kathy Porada says several hundred researchers working at downtown Seattle offices are already national leaders, ranking fifth in federal National Institutes of Health grants for pediatric research.

The hospital has also received $15 million in pledges from Jean Reid of Bellevue. A quarter of that will support advanced nursing training and the rest will help fund the hospital’s Bellevue clinic, which opened last year. It will be named after Reid and her husband Robert Reid, who died in January.
