50 years ago (1963)

Completion of the sale of the Sport Center, 1709 Hewitt, was announced by Ted Tyrell, owner for the past 11 years. Tyrell sold his entire interests in the popular downtown center to brothers Barney and Huck Barnett, who also owned the London Café.

Two from Everett were scheduled to attend the sixth annual Western Conference on Nursing Education in Del Webb’s Towne House in San Francisco. They were Jeanne M. Irving, director of nursing at Everett Junior College, and Nancy V. Walsh, director of nursing service at Providence Hospital.

25 years ago (1988)

At Everett, John Chase scored twice, and Scott Udertiz and Paul Von Strahl each added a goal to pace Mariner in its 5-0 soccer victory over Oak Harbor. Udertiz scored the game’s first goal on a header after a corner kick. Chase then scored the next two goals and von Strahl added another. The final goal was accidentally done by Oak Harbor.

Everett Marine &Fishing Supply at 1220 80th S.W. was having a liquidation sale. The entire sporting goods department had wholesale prices directly to the public. Items included life jackets, fathometers, crab pots, clothing and fishing tackle.
