EVERETT — A woman suffered burns on her foot in an apartment fire Monday night in south Everett.

A third-floor unit at an apartment complex at 12222 19th Ave. SE reportedly caught fire around 11 p.m. Firefighters doused it and kept flames from spreading to other units, in part thanks to the building’s sprinkler system, according to the Everett Fire Department.

People escaped the fire and the building, but a woman had burns to her foot and was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

Two other apartments had smoke and water damage.

The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating the cause.

People should check their smoke alarms and have a fire escape plan, the Everett Fire Department advised.
