A lot of wisdom in Chinese proverb

The Dec. 26 letter writer (“Seems to me Jesus was conservative”) needs to get his philosophers straight. “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him to fish and you feed him for life,” is a Chinese proverb, not a quote from Jesus. As far as liberalism goes, Jesus, Gandhi, Thurgood Marshall, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy. All liberals. That’s some pretty good company.
