Council favors business, developers

It just goes on and on and on. Our Snohomish County Council has repeatedly defied the Growth Management Act and ignored the need for good planning in our communities. Council members insist they know what is best, but wasting our tax money on land use appeals is totally not the type of leadership we need. News that the state was going to withhold more than $9 million in much-needed transportation money because the council insisted we need to help a private business owner build a huge car lot and other big box retail at Island Crossing shows a complete disrespect to the people they serve.

I do recall that when John Koster and Jeff Sax ran and won as newcomers to the County Council three years ago, they did so by saying they would fix the roads and not waste taxpayers’ dollars. It is clear they are doing exactly the opposite of what they said. We need leadership in this county, not self-absorbed, pro-development representatives who keep thumbing their noses at good planning at the expense of taxpayers.
