Gambling tips, hypothetically speaking

Roll out the red carpet and cue the cheesy music. It’s our special Emmy and football prediction edition.

As always, these picks are for recreational purposes only. So don’t gamble — or at least jog in place while you do.

Picks for Sunday’s Emmys:

Drama: “The Sopranos.” Just so the acceptance speech can abruptly fade to black.

Actor in a drama: Hugh Laurie’s fake American accent beats James Gandolfini’s Jersey accent and Kiefer Sutherland’s intense whisper.

Actress in a drama: Kyra Sedgwick. Loser Sally Field will find out they don’t really like her.

Comedy: “The Office.” Too good to be ignored.

Actor in a comedy: Alec Baldwin. His daughter can expect a stern acceptance speech.

Actress in a comedy: America Ferrera of “Ugly Betty.” Voters love the disadvantaged (people who look like normal people).

Turning to football, the Huskies face Ohio State, while the Cougars take on everybody’s favorite patsy, Idaho. The Seahawks face the NFL’s version of Idaho, the Arizona Cardinals.

After a 5-0 start against the spread, we’ll put our undefeated season on the line by taking the bad guys in all three games. That’s Ohio State -4, Idaho +26 and Arizona +3. As Bryce Fisher learned this week, there’s no loyalty in football.
