Grateful thanks for support after theft

On behalf of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County board, our staff, and the many children to be served in our community, I wish to extend thanks for those who stepped in to help make our 2012 Dream Builder’s Auction a tremendous success.

For those who may have missed earlier developments, the BBBS offices were burglarized one week prior to the auction; several thousand dollars in merchandise were stolen. (Sept. 25 article, “Thieves steal items intended for charity auction”).

When the news became public, we experienced an unprecedented outpouring of community support that was not only profound, but also encouraging to those who’ve worked tirelessly to make this event a big success.

There were over 250 guests and volunteers in attendance on Saturday evening, Sept. 29. All indications at this time show that we are close to the goal of $93,000 in gross receipts.

It’s the generosity of our sponsors, supporters and community partners that make this event possible. We rely on volunteers and donors to help us work to strengthen the fabric of community that binds us all together.

The commitment of the board is to be good stewards of the financial support that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County has received so that even more children can have mentors in their lives.

Dan Gunderson

Big Brothers Big Sisters Snohomish County Board Chair
