Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin, in her annual address, spoke on three options for the future of Funko Field (“Everett mayor pitches reimagined Everett Mall at annusal address,” The Herald, March 22). Don’t buy into it. She and the city council have already made the decision to build a new stadium. There will be no remodel, keeping the exsisting site. Public input is a waste of time.
Everett has a $12.9 million deficit. But, as she said, “we willl do everything we can, to keep the AquaSox here in Everett.” Does that sound like a new $80 million? You bet it does. So be ready to hear a bunch of hocus-pocus on the process of deciding which direction, choice, to make. Batter up!

Editor’s note: The City of Everett’s investment in a public-private partnership to build a new Everett AquaSox stadium has not been announced, but the city will not finance the project on its own.
