I have been a resident in Edmonds for almost 20 years. I work in health care and am CPR certified.
Yesterday I was leaving my home and began choking. Panicked I pulled in to the Olympic View Deli on Puget Drive and jumped out of my car. By that time I was gasping for breathe. In front of the store was a tall man with a cowboy hat named Lewis. He saw my distress and asked if I was OK. I was not and he quickly came over and gave me the Heimlich maneuver. I was finally able to get air and then realized what a close call that was!
I have never seen anyone use the Heimlich maneuver or had to use it myself and I am so thankful he knew exactly what to do. He saved my life. Thank you Lewis for your quick action!
