Citizens spent years fighting this

Aaron Reardon has used his veto power to overturn a County Council vote that would have eliminated Fully Contained Communities from the county code. This issue was of immense importance to the citizens of Snohomish County. Against the voices of hundreds of involved citizens, Reardon single handedly will enable a developer to “win” a battle that has gone on for over three years. His statement to The Herald that the Council’s vote was a ‘hasty’ decision makes as much sense as saying that it didn’t snow last winter!

Many citizens of Snohomish County have expended an inordinate amount of time to make their voices heard on the deleterious impacts of FCC’s. Those citizens attended countless council and planning commission meetings, and met with delegates in every allowable manner. The County Council finally voted on the issue and made a decision. Where was Reardon when this was going on? Through his actions he has shown who he advocates for and it’s not the citizens and taxpayers.

The question now is whether the council will get a fourth vote to override the veto. Only Dave Gossett and John Koster can answer that. I hope the voters in their districts are watching this carefully.
