Owner should come forward, claim horse

Come on, people. Come forward and claim your horse. This incident is the perfect example of what happens when people who take on the care of an animal realize all that is involved in horse ownership and, after the fact, that it is for the life of the animal. Horses are labor intensive when they are being cared for correctly. They are very expensive to maintain, even if you grow your own hay and graze them on your own property. They are not a beautiful object of nature that will stand out in a field somewhere until you feel so inclined to go out and show them off to someone. Nor are they something you jump on and ride a few times a year. If you are not up to the responsibility, emotional, physical, or fiscal, of maintaining a horse, please don’t get one. Retired racing Thoroughbreds make good riding horses but they are not for everyone, and in the least someone who may be trying horse ownership for the very first time.
Whoever was the last to take responsibility for the thoroughbred: Come forward, retrieve your animal and at least find a good home for him.
