Save a buck — keep it somewhere cold

You may have noticed the grinning pig in recent editions of The Herald encouraging you to save a buck, such as by cutting back on gasoline. Today’s paper is chock full of ideas:

Buy a freezer. Sales have shot up lately, thanks to all the people looking to store meat or veggies and save on groceries. After watching their 401(k) plans tank, many have also found that the freezer is also a much better place to keep their cash.

Hold off on that iPhone: Customers have been complaining that recent Apple products have been so filled with technical glitches, they might as well have Microsoft Vista logos on them.

Faced with complaints that gadgets overheat, Apple insists there’s nothing to see here, folks. Those sparks shooting out of your iPod are just a feature to help you dance like the people in the commercials.

Bundle up: Puget Sound Energy wants to raise natural gas bills 10 percent this year, erasing a lot of last year’s 13 percent decrease.

So you might want to let the house stay a little cooler this winter. Just put on a few extra layers and huddle around the flaming MacBook.
