Social networking for dogs

Just right for date night: Ads playing before movies at local theaters remind teens to get up-to-date on their immunizations before heading off to college.

The campaign reminds teenagers about the dangers of meningitis, cervical cancer and Hepatitis B. It’s the perfect image to leave them with before the lights go dim and they snuggle up with their sweethearts.

Finally, something for Fido on the Internet. Doggyspace.com offers social networking for dogs and the people who serve them.

Just like humans on Facebook or MySpace, dogs can make friends, post videos and pictures and write about their favorite movies. There’s a lot of love for “Lady and the Tramp,” but don’t bring up “Old Yeller.”

Some dogs are reluctant to make a lot of friends on the site. They’re waiting for smell-o-vision to hit the Internet so they can sniff one another’s rear ends.

In other canine news, research has found that when humans yawn, dogs often react by doing the same thing. The study suggests dogs might understand what people are feeling.

If dogs really understood us, they’d pop a breath mint now and then.
