Recent events about gay marriage being upheld in various states have compelled us to write this letter. All of us have heard both sides of this issue, but what about the righteous judgment of God? We fear that some people use scripture passages only as a matter of convenience if it appears to uphold whatever personal convictions they have. I have read recently about those who say they are gay Christians, and I wonder where did this come from? How can you be “Christ-like” which God loves, and gay, which scripture declares God abhors? Jesus said himself that he only does the things that please the father. Have we forgotten the commandment to be holy as he is holy?
Yes, we know that he is a loving God, but because of his holiness he must execute righteous judgments on children of disobedience. Have we forgotten what he did to Sodom and Gomorrah when they engaged their lives in gross immorality? We can toss around the right and wrong of gay marriage/lifestyle, but the fact remains when this life is over we will all have the opportunity to give account to Jesus about the things we have done. For those who have obeyed God’s word and trusted in Jesus for salvation, there is the promise of eternal life with him, but for those who reject him and have twisted his word for their own advantage, eternal damnation awaits them apart from him.
The purpose of this letter is not intended to point a finger of condemnation, but rather as a warning call of repentance to those who will hear.
