As the first 100 days of this president unfold, will the small majority of Republican voters who gave Donald Trump victory see the threat to democracy that Trump’s actions have generated?
Trump has seized power for the executive branch by declaring non-existent emergencies. With unelected Elon Musk as his hatchet man, Trump axes any that dare to offer an opposing viewpoint. Puppets remain. He is hand selecting the press to attend his numerous news conferences. He LOVES publicity. He bleeds power away from Congress by overriding its decisions, especially budgetary. He offends our allies and embraces political tricksters. He pardons those who endangered our Congress and its police protectors, adding a continuing threat to those who might stand up to him.
Anyone who witnessed Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021, could have predicted this stomping of our Constitution. Will those who truly value democracy finally say enough!
