News reports tell us that when he was speaking with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, President Trump said that the Nazis treated the Jews with “kindness” or “love.” If nothing else had disqualified Trump from being president, this unconscionably outrageous statement would do it.
It’s hard to imagine anything more insensitive and, frankly, stupid than this statement. The Holocaust was one of the greatest crimes and sins in human history. Hitler didn’t treat Jews with love, he killed six million of them and wanted to kill all of them. It is beyond understanding how anyone can support Donald Trump after he has said this despicable thing.
