"Under God" added in McCarthy era

I remember when “under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance. I didn’t like it at the time because it made the pledge awkward to say. The change was made during the McCarthy era and reflected those hysterical times.

I believe the decision is a good one, but I’m sure lots of people will disagree.
