HILLSBORO, Ore. — Jake Anchia hit a first-inning grand slam and drove in six runs as the visiting Everett AquaSox stormed to a big lead and won their sixth straight game with an 8-3 victory over the Vancouver Canadians on Friday night at Ron Tonkin Field.

The High-A West-leading AquaSox (46-22) have won 22 of their last 28 games, including the first four in their current six-game series against Vancouver (32-38).

Everett raced to a 5-0 first-inning lead on Anchia’s grand slam and a run-scoring triple by Joseph Rosa.

Anchia, a 24-year-old catcher who has bounced between the AquaSox and Double-A Arkansas this season, drove in two more runs on a second-inning double. Dariel Gomez then doubled to bring home Anchia and make it 8-0.

Everett starter Tim Elliott allowed two runs and two hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched. The 2019 fourth-round MLB draft pick struck out three batters and walked four.

The AquaSox and Canadians continue their series Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
