EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox bats weren’t enough to overcome a tough night on the mound and in the field in a 13-12 loss to the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday night at Funko Field.

Everett pounded out 12 hits at the plate, including eight extra-base hits, but gave up 13 hits and committed three errors in the defeat. The AquaSox pitching staff allowed double-digit runs for the third time in the past five games.

Everett raced out to a 9-4 lead after three innings, but the Canadians scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to take an 11-9 lead and held on for the win.

Conner Hoover’s one-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning pulled Everett to within a run, but Cade Marlowe struck out swinging and Dariel Gomez grounded out to end the game.

Marlowe went 3-for-6 with a home run, two doubles and six runs batted in, and Victor Labrada went 3-for-6 with a triple and two runs batted in for the AquaSox.

Stephen Kolek started for Everett (53-32) and allowed eight runs on seven hits in four innings.

Luis De Los Santos went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, and Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-4 with a homer and also drove in four runs for Vancouver (39-48).
