AquaSox hurlers struggle again in loss to Canadians

Everett falls 11-6 and has dropped three of five games in the high-scoring series.

EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox allowed double-digit runs to Vancouver for the third time in five games and the Canadians pounded out 16 hits in an 11-6 win on Saturday night at Funko Field.

Bernie Martinez and Tyler Driver struggled early as Everett fell behind 7-0 after three innings. In all, the duo combined to allow 10 runs, eight earned, on 11 hits in 5.2 innings pitched.

Connor Hoover and Jake Anchia each homered and drove in two runs, and Matt Scheffler went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Everett (54-33) offense.

Zac Cook went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, and Will Robertson, Spencer Horwitz and Rafael Lantigua each had three hits for Vancouver (40-49).

The Canadians have also won games in the high-scoring series by scores of 10-4 and 13-12. The AquaSox have two wins by scores of 11-6 and 9-7. The final game of the six-game series is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. on Sunday in Everett.
