FEDERAL WAY — Glacier Peak’s Addison Farman and Archbishop Murphy’s Samantha Mandeville each won a second-straight high school state diving title Thursday at the girls swimming and diving championships at the King County Aquatics Center.
Farman, a senior, outpaced the field of 24 divers with a finals score of 407.40 — 22.2 points above runner-up Samantha Keith of Bothell.
Mandeville, also a senior, dominated the 2A competition, scoring 344.10 points. Marysville Pilchuck’s Jill Thomas placed second with 243.15 points. Thomas sat in fourth place after the preliminary round but finished strong in the final round.
In the 4A preliminary round, Farman led all divers with a score of 180.10, and her 292.75 points outpaced the field in the semifinals.
The Grizzlies placed a second diver on the 4A medals stand with junior Claire Butler’s fourth-place finish. Jackson’s Timbre Grevenkamp took seventh.
In the 3A competition, two Monroe divers took home medals with Madelyn Clark placing third and Brynn Magelsen fourth. Shorecrest’s Berkley Gorre took fifth.
Preliminary rounds for all swimming events were to take place on Friday, with the championships to be held on Saturday.
