Low, Walters ink ECHL deals, Morrison rejoins the broadcast team

There was some exciting news for a pair of former Everett Silvertips Tuesday as forward Brayden Low and defenseman Nick Walters signed with the Rapid City (S.D.) Rush, the ECHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes.

Low played last season at the University of Alberta where he scored one goal with three assists in 21 games. The Richmond, B.C., native played 182 of his 187 WHL games with the Tips and tallied 26 goals and 31 assists. He was an alternate captain in 2014-15 as he recorded 16 goals and 15 assists in 70 regular-season games.

Walters played 23 games for the University of Calgary last season after a 307-game career in the WHL with Everett, Brandon and Lethbridge. The St. Albert, Alberta, native was a fourth-round pick of the St. Louis Blues in the 2012 NHL draft.

The Tips also announced their broadcast schedule and team Tuesday. Justin Morrison will join play-by-play man Mike Benton as color commentator for all home games this season. Morrison, a 2006 graduate of Washington State University’s Murrow College of Communication, is an Edmonds native who previously hosted the “Tips after the Game” Show on Fox Sports 1380-AM.

The Silvertips Hockey Show will debut next Tuesday live from Sporty’s Beef and Brew and continue through the course of the season.

In other news… There is no other news. The Tips had the day off Tuesday and I spent the time working on season previews and monitoring the AquaSox who fell to Eugene in the decisive Game 3 of the NWL Championship Series.

Lastly in case you missed it, or just want to see it again, here is the Carter Hart Experience that took Safeco Field by storm last week. Enjoy:
