EVERETT — Adam Macko turned in a quality performance in his first start of the season, Spencer Packard homered for the second straight game and Noelvi Marte hit his first home run of the season as the Everett AquaSox beat the Eugene Emeralds 10-7 on Saturday evening at Funko Field.
Macko, ranked as the N0. 8 overall prospect in the Seattle Mariners’ system according to Baseball America, struck out 11 batters in five innings. Macko allowed three earned runs on four hits and walked two.
A day after hitting a game-winning grand slam, Packard launced a two-run home run in the first innings to give Everett a 2-0 lead.
After Eugene took a 6-5 lead through the top of the sixth inning, Marte hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to give the AquaSox a 7-6 lead that they would never relinquish.
Marte, the No. 11 overall prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, finished the game 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored. Alberto Rodriguez, Victor Labrada and Charlie Welch each had multiple hits for Everett (2-0).
Armani Smith, Casey Schmitt and Patrick Bailey each homered in the game for Eugene (0-2).
