EDMONDS — Edmonds-Woodway defeated Stanwood 67-58 in a loser-out 4A District 1 boys basketball playoff game Thursday night.
The Warriors were led by the senior forward Josh Jordan’s 23 points.
Edmonds-Woodway is idle until Tuesday, when the Warriors will play the loser of today’s semifinal game between Monroe and Lake Stevens.
Stanwood started out the game with a 13-5 run, forcing Edmonds-Woodway to call a time out to regroup.
“We started five seniors and they realized that this might be the last time they would be playing basketball together,” said Edmonds-Woodway assistant coach Jason Courter.
Edmonds-Woodway quickly rallied, tying the score 17-17 by the end of the first quarter.
Edmonds-Woodway took control of the game in the fourth quarter as Joon Choi hit three of his four 3-pointers. Choi and teammate Tyler Brudevold combined for seven 3-pointers in the game. Warriors’ backup point guard Devin Joseph had 11 assists.
Stanwood’s Cannen Roberson scored a game-high 24 points, including four 3-pointers.
“He put a lot of pressure on our defense,” Courter said of Roberson. “You have to know where he is at all times.”
