Reader feedback: Where’s Alex Leavitt?

Jeff Camp asks the following:
“Hi Nick, I was going through the all-time roster portion of the Tips website and I was looking up Alex Leavitt’s profile. I noticed an article about him signing a multi-year deal with the Coyotes. I know that he is not listed as being in their ‘system’ and it looks like he is playing in Germany. What do you know about that, if anything?”
Here’s what I think is going on with Alex Leavitt: He did indeed sign a deal with the NHL Phoenix Coyotes a few years back, and I think he spent close to two seasons in their system, spending some time with their AHL affiliate in San Antonio, then a season in the Central Hockey League with Arizona (where I think he won the league scoring title). He was not re-signed by the Coyotes and headed to Germany this season. Coincidentally, Gregg Drinnan just mentioned him in his blog yesterday as he recently signed a one-year extention with Kassel of the German elite league, with whom he has 14 goals and 31 assists in 46 games this season.
I’m not 100-percent certain on all this. If anyone has better or more accurate information, please feel free to share via the comments section.
