Red-hot AquaSox beat Eugene for 15th win in 18 games

Everett wins its 5th straight game and extends its lead atop the High-A West with a 10-5 victory.

EUGENE, Ore. — Another week, another five-win series for the Everett AquaSox.

Zach DeLoach hit a three-run homer, Jack Larsen drove in four runs and the red-hot AquaSox won their fifth straight game with a 10-5 victory over the Eugene Emeralds in Sunday’s series finale at PK Park.

Everett (39-19) has gone 5-1 in each of its last three series and has won 15 of its last 18 games. The AquaSox extended their lead atop the six-team High-A West to 5.5 games over second-place Eugene (34-25).

Everett jumped to a 3-0 first-inning lead on an RBI single by Larsen and a two-run single by Connor Hoover.

Then after Eugene evened the score, the AquaSox regained the lead with three more runs in the fourth. Patrick Frick drew a go-ahead bases-loaded walk and Larsen hit a two-run single to give Everett a 6-3 lead.

DeLoach added a three-run homer in the eighth to extend the AquaSox’s lead to 9-4. The 2020 second-round draft pick and reigning High-A West player of the month finished 3-for-4.

In his third start with Everett since being promoted from Low-A Modesto, Taylor Dollard allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings pitched. The 2020 fifth-round draft pick struck out two batters and walked one.

The AquaSox return to Funko Field on Tuesday night for the opener of a six-game series against last-place Tri-City.
