Silvertips top Royals, clinch playoff berth

Three different players score for Everett in a 3-1 win over Victoria.

EVERETT — Hunter Campbell, Caden Zaplinty and Dylan Anderson scored unanswered goals and the Everett Silvertips beat the Victoria Royals 3-1 on Saturday night to clinch a playoff berth.

Reggie Newman gave the Royals an early lead with a goal in the first period, but the Silvertips took control from there.

Campbell scored the equalizer in the first on assists from Olen Zellweger and Ronan Seeley.

Zaplinty gave Everett the lead when he scored just his second goal of the season at 11:18 in the second period.

Anderson added an insurance goal at 15:35 in the third.

Koen MacInnes stopped 15 of the 16 shots he faced in goal for Everett (35-7-2-4).

Campbell Arnold had a busy night in goal for Victoria (13-30-4-1), stopping 56 of the 59 shots he faced.

The Silvertips return to the ice with a 2 p.m. road game at Kamloops on Monday.
